1970's Decade Theme Brrrlesque 2019

Auditions details

Please use the google form link provided to fill out information about your audition and select your time slot.

Each performer may audition one solo and one group act. Groups may be 2-5 people. If you are auditioning more than one piece, please fill out a form separately for each act, as well as two time slots on the doodle poll link. We will not accept two solo acts from the same person.

Song Choice is on a first come, first serve basis. If you choose a song that is already signed up, we will contact you by phone or email to change your song choice. A song from a previous year must not be duplicated as well. We will double check and notify you if so.

Songs must not exceed 4 minutes in length (subject to change based on Director feedback.) Please note again that your song needs to be produced between 1970-1979 in keeping with our 70's themed show. We ask that your act is further developed than conceptual level. Aim for 60% complete.

Any additional questions, please email

Thank you for your interest!

Please note the following songs have been chosen by the Brrrlesque Board for the Cast Group Numbers:

Superfly- Curtis Mayfield (1973)

TSOP- Soul Train Theme (1974)

Auditions are open to feminine and non-binary people.

While comfort levels and opinions are subjective, the following guidelines have been developed to remind us to be aware of areas that could potentially offend or be degrading, pornographic or too sexually explicit to others. We reserve the right to ask performers to alter their act if it doesn't fit within the spirit and intent of Brrrlesque.

1) Cultural Appropriation - Please do not dress or act in a way that reduces another race into a shallow caricature or a blatantly offensive racist stereotype. Any racism will not be tolerated. If you are unsure whether your act has cultural references that could offend someone, then it probably means you should think of a different way to express yourself or speak to the Director for guidance.

2) Religion - Please never use anything of deep religious significance or cultural meaning. Do your research and make sure you’re not disregarding or subverting something that could be sacred. If that is your intended purpose you are being offensive.

3) Sexual Content - Brrrlesque is about having fun, celebrating the art of burlesque, creativity and teamwork. It certainly is about sexual expression and being a bit cheeky, they don’t call it, “the Art of tease”, for nothing! To put it simply, we have chosen to run a show that is basically PG-13 with a twist and sexy in a fun, lighthearted way.

**specifics---nipples and genitals must be covered at all times, no sex toys, no reenacting sex, implying is one thing**

We hope that these guidelines do not offend or intimidate anyone. The most important thing to remember is to never be afraid to email us at if you have any questions or need an advice on your act.
